The
Academy of Drums is once again pushing the boundaries of drumming education.
We have just added a 16 Track Digital Recording Studio and a Reference Workstation.
The recording studio provides the atmosphere of a true recording studio experience.
The students are instructed in studio etiquette, proper playing techniques,
and actual hands on experience at operating the controls. With the hands
on approach the student can “see” their playing and use this
to improve their skills for the next recording. They also are learning how
to operate some of the most advanced recording software that is currently
available. Best of all, they get to take home their performance on a burned
CD.
The
Reference Workstation is available for students to help expand their drumming
knowledge. This workstation contains the Modern Drummer Archive and Finale
Notation Software. The MD Archive has every issue from 1977 to 2001 in a
digital file format. Students can look up their favorite drummer, do research
on a variety of drum patterns, find 1000’s of transcriptions, and print
out hundreds of exercises. Also, Finale Notation is a great way to get the
rhythms down on paper. With this program, students will learn how to use
the most popular notation software, while they better understand music notation.
Transcribing songs, creating full band charts, and printing out exercises
are just some of the things you can do on Finale.
